- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- Food coloring (optional)
- Edible flowers for decoration
- Buttercream frosting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans generously to prevent sticking.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this mixture to the butter and sugar mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until smooth, avoiding overmixing.
- If desired, fold in food coloring.
- Evenly divide the batter between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
- Spread buttercream frosting between the layers and on top of the cake, then decorate with edible flowers.
