Description

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 4 slices of cheese (Cheddar or American)
  • 4 burger buns (brioche or whole grain)
  • BBQ sauce (to taste)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Oil for cooking (olive or canola)

Instructions

  1. Caramelize the onions: Heat a tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions, stirring frequently. Cook until they soften and take on a deep golden color, about 15-20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Prepare the patties: Form the ground beef into burger patties, making them slightly larger than your buns. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the patties: Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness.
  4. Melt the cheese: In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese atop each patty and cover to melt.
