- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another large bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
- Heat your chosen oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, drop dough into the hot oil.
- Fry the beignets for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove the beignets and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar just before serving.
