Description

Sweet Potato Gratin is a delicious and creamy dish that combines the natural sweetness of sweet potatoes with a rich, cheesy sauce, making it a perfect side for any meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer half of the sweet potato slices in the bottom of the dish.
  4. In a bowl, mix the heavy cream, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the sweet potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle half of the Gruyère and Parmesan cheese over the cream.
  7. Add the remaining sweet potato slices on top.
  8. Pour the rest of the cream mixture over the top layer.
  9. Finish with the remaining cheese.
  10. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the cream mixture.
  • Let the gratin sit for 10 minutes before serving to allow it to set.
  • This dish can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
