Description

A heartwarming Indian dish combining tender chicken thighs with a rich, spiced sauce, perfect for family dinners and festive occasions.


Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Chicken Thighs
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • 1 piece Green Chili
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Ginger
  • 2 pieces Onions
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 2 tsp Ground Cumin
  • 2 tsp Ground Coriander
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 5 pieces Tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Coriander
  • 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • 100 ml Water

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil on medium flame until shimmering.
  2. Add the diced onions and stir. Cook until golden brown, about 8–10 minutes.
  3. Toss in the chopped garlic, fresh ginger, and green chili. Sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. Lower the heat slightly and add turmeric, chili powder, cumin, coriander, and garam masala. Stir for about a minute.
  5. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
  6. Add the chicken thighs, searing them for about 5 minutes.
  7. Pour in 100 ml of water, season with salt, and bring to a gentle simmer. Cover and cook for 20-25 minutes.
  8. Stir in lemon juice and freshly chopped coriander before serving.

Notes

Make the dish a day ahead for deeper flavors. You can also cook in an Instant Pot if pressed for time.
