Description

Delicious homemade popcorn chicken with a crispy coating and juicy tender chicken, perfect for snacks or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Place chicken pieces in a large bowl and cover with buttermilk. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to about 350°F (175°C).
  4. Remove marinated chicken and dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring each piece is coated.
  5. Fry the chicken in batches for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and fully cooked.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the chicken marinate longer and consider air frying for a lighter option.
