Description

A delicious fusion of croissants and donuts, homemade cronuts are a delightful treat that combines flaky pastry with sweet glaze.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for glaze
  • 12 tablespoons milk for glaze

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast, let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add chilled butter to the flour mixture and mix until crumbly.
  4. Stir in the yeast mixture and egg until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  6. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  7. Roll out the dough and fold it several times to create layers.
  8. Cut the dough into donut shapes and let them rise again for 30 minutes.
  9. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the cronuts until golden brown.
  10. Mix powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze and dip the cronuts in it.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter is very cold for flaky layers.
