Delightful corn tamales made with fresh corn and masa, wrapped in traditional husks and steamed to perfection.
Ingredients

- 2 cups fresh corn kernels (or frozen corn)
- 1 cup masa harina
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- Banana leaves or corn husks (for wrapping)
Instructions
- Soak banana leaves or corn husks in warm water for about 30 minutes.
- In a blender, combine the fresh corn kernels, sugar, milk, and melted butter. Blend until smooth.
- In a large bowl, whisk together masa harina, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually mix the blended corn mixture into the dry ingredients until creamy.
- Spread a generous spoonful of batter onto the center of a soaked husk, fold it over, and secure it tightly with kitchen twine.
- Place tamales upright in a large steamer and steam for 1 to 1.5 hours.
- Let them cool slightly before unwrapping and serving.
Notes
Tamales can be made a day in advance and stored in the fridge. For a different flavor, add ingredients like jalapeƱos or fresh herbs.
