- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F to 115°F)
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into small pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and shape into bites.
- Boil the pretzel bites in the baking soda water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush the bites with melted butter and mix sugar with cinnamon to coat them.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add vanilla extract to the dough.
- These pretzel bites are best served warm.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
